Hi, I’m Michael.
I’ve always believed that the best way to find your way in life is to get outdoors but for me, it's more than just a hobby, it’s how I have reclaimed my own life.
Why WalkWild Wellbeing?
A few years ago, I realised that "getting back to nature" was the only thing that actually worked when life got heavy. I’ve navigated the "fog" of working in a toxic workplace, in a job I loved, and bullies and the coercive and demeaning behaviour of people who deserved no place in my life but none of the conventional therapies really helped with mental health challenges; anxiety, depression and even suicidal thoughts in restoring a sense of self worth and purpose again, and I've done it without any medications or supplements.
My knowledge and experience has developed over 15 plus years of working in statutory social care and mental health teams, and in community settings supporting over 1000 clients in managing and overcoming their own mental health or other life challenges.
My own personal experience and that gained in this work led me to understand that traditional, four-walled support isn’t for everyone. I wanted to create something different to what is still considered the standard form of support, in a caring non judgemental space where you can move, breathe, and heal without feeling like a "patient." and a place where you will be heard and supported, not for just another short term intervention, but for as long as you need support and this is where WalkWild Wellbeing was born
My Approach
I don't have a magic wand or a secret formula, because that is something none of us should ever promise. It is about discovering together, what works and what doesn't and creating step by step something that progresses at your pace, one step at a time.
In one to to one or group coaching my goal isn't to tell you what to do, it is to provide a safe space, where the air is fresh, where their are no walls, no background noises apart from the sounds of nature, a place where a supportive ear and gentle encouragement will guide you to find your own way back to being "wild and free,"
As a wellbeing walk leader and practitioner, I believe although any form of walking is good for us, engaging with our environment and immersing ourselves with nature and our surroundings is something we can all benefit further from, and something that will enhance and improve our wellbeing in ways we will never experience or imagine until we give it a try.
