Circle of Life Presentation on
Mental Health Foundation Study
by Michael Harden
A poetic summary of the report
(Not included in the presentation)
We remember those days
when the world slowed,
and we turned toward the green spaces,
that held us steady.
And we look at the feedback of
four thousand voices,
and deeper conversations
that told what numbers cannot:
how it was not just how long we stayed,
but how we saw and heard
the way light falls through leaves,
the first song at dawn,
just being present,
right where we are.
It tells us connection is simple,
It doesn’t have to be grand adventures,
but noticing what is already here.
It speaks of gaps too,
paths that are hard to reach,
doors that stay closed,
and how we must make space
for everyone to belong.
For the work we do,
walking together,
talking softly,
letting the land restore what is frayed.
No walls, no hurry,
just sky and ground
and the quiet truth
that nature meets us
exactly where and as we are.
